今年60歲的希蒂(Shiti Charoenrattanaprapa)於曼谷出生，15歲那一年患上神經纖維瘤(neurofibromatosis)後，全身開始不停長出泡泡狀的腫瘤，之後左臉頰更長出比嬰兒頭顱還大的腫瘤。

 

由於嚇人外表遭受親友排斥，希蒂也無法找到工作，只好隻身逃到泰國與緬甸邊境叢林。去年他被緬甸政府視為非法居留移民，遣返回國，改住在南部也拉府一間小屋。

平時他靠泰國紅十字會及醫院義工救濟糧食與日常用品。 

Nurses at a local hospital have taken him under their wing, bringing food and groceries and giving him health check-ups
 
The bubble-like tumours on his skin are extremely unsightly but are not actually painful, nor are they cancerous or infectious

 

如今為了悼念泰王，希蒂打敗心魔，踏出勇敢一步，回到曼谷向泰王作最後道別。不過旅程結束後，他仍會回到也拉府的小屋，繼續過著隱居生活。

Shiti Charoenrattanaprapa lives a quiet life in southern Thailand. Many Thais are Buddhists who believe that his present life is a punishment for something he did in a past life and that if he lives a good life he will be rewarded with a better life next time round
